Listeners / Ep 1. Review

I have no idea what to expect when I started up Listeners. Most of the time I have no idea what I am about to watch because I like going into everything blindly. This time I was very blind and had no idea what I was hopping into, all I know is it is going to be a good time.

Kagami: There are heavy metal transformers fighting weird creatures!

Oh, Kagami, you are joining me with this?

Kagami: You know it!

Alrighty, well, let's begin.

Listeners starts out with Echo, a guy working in a scrap-heap where he actually doesn't mind the work. He is a tech-nerd and loves working with junk and metal creating things. In fact, he says, "A sea of trash, it is where I belong." Boy have I ever related more to a quote.

He then spots something in the trash piles and instead of getting a special piece he was hoping he ends up finding a girl in all the junk!

Kagami: AND she doesn't remember who she is or where she comes from! She is really cute too!

Echo discovers that she is a Player. Players are people who are actually really looked-down upon because they are thought to be the people who brought down humanity with the use of Equipment. Equipment are Mechas that are used for fighting and Players are the pilots to those machines.

Kagami: That mayor guy is a jerk! Insulting the poor girl and she doesn't even know her own name!

The mayor wanted to toss the girl out of town immediately because of the "calamity" Players bring. Apparently, there is something called the Monument of Astonishment that was created 10 years prior in this world when evil creatures came to wreak havoc called, Earless. They destroy everything they come across and caused civilization to work in the scrap-heaps just like Echo does supply scrap pieces needed to fight the Earless.

Kagami: What a cruel world.

Riku: Hey guys, what are you watching?

Kagami: Listeners! There are big mecha things and they fight these weird creature things and-

Riku: That girl looks like if Kagami and Haruto had a daughter.

Kagami: AHHH Why would you say something like that! 😫

She isn't wrong, Kagami. She kind of acts like you too.

Kagami: You guys are embarrassing me! 😤

This anime is absolutely beautiful. It has such a unique style and it is laying out a fascinating story. I have only watched a few Mecha/Gundam, type anime, but they are always such a blast. I am excited especially for Listeners because the Mechas look so different, not bulky and pointy like what I am used to with Mechs.

I am so excited for what is to come with Listeners.

Are you watching Listeners? Tell me about it!

Stay Safe and Stay Sweet!
