Tower of God / Ep 1. Review!

So, I have been seeing a lot of hype for this anime for a little while and I didn't really get it. I am normally very behind on everything when it comes to shows, music, anything popular like that because I am normally always in my own little world! I am trying to change that, but goodness it is a lot of work to keep up with hype.

Anyway, I understand why though...This is a hype-worthy show.

Tower of God an adaptation by Crunchyroll Originals of the Webtoon comic by SIU. Twenty-Fifth Bam is the main character of this story where he has lived underneath this mysterious Tower for his whole life. The main goal is to make it to the top of the tower to become a god and get anything that you desire. Of course, that isn't the goal for Bam, he is searching for someone special.

First off, I just have to say that it is SO cool that Webtoon comics are getting acknowledgment. I hope that more webcomic artists get this recognition and a chance to be made into a series.

Secondly, I hardly know anything about this story and it is already tugging at my heartstrings. I don't know Bam, I don't know the girl he is going after, but goodness sakes it gave me a reason to watch this show because there is a mission to look forward to.

The beginning starts with someone asking what do you desire? Honor and Pride? Power and Influence? Money and Riches? Anything that a person would love to have. Honestly, for some reason, the tone of this opening really made me think of that part in Kingdom Hearts where you are in the area with all the beautiful stained glass and having to confront that big Heartless guy and you have to choose which keyblade and what you intend to do with it. I know there are several other stories with this kind of decision making, but it made sense with this story because Bam is given a blade and he has to call on what he desires. I don't know, maybe I'm just really wanting to play Kingdom Hearts, it's been like 10 years and I haven't gotten to play the 3rd installment so maybe I am projecting my emotions...

Ahem...Anyway.

Headon, the tower's caretaker is adorable. It is probably a sadistic monster, but for some reason that makes me love him more.

This first episode was honestly so intense and it put so much in it that I feel like it could have been drawn out. I believe this show is only going to have 13 episodes which is amazing, but also I feel like it might be one of those stories that needs something longer, I don't know, I haven't actually read the Webtoon...Maybe I should...Yeah probably. But then I don't want to ruin the anime, so maybe I will read it after the show ends and get a better idea of how the speed of the story actually is.

I'm excited for this show though. I think it is amazing that a webcomic gets this kind of acknowledgment so much so that it gets its own show and I am excited to see where it goes!

Are you watching Tower of God? Tell me what you think!

Stay Safe and Stay Sweet!
